Melissa & Andrew's Wedding Album

I'm in an album design high! I'm cranking these books out left and right. If you are a 2008 bride and you haven't submitted your order yet...send it in! I want to work on your album. The deadline is March 5th.
I loved this wedding and was so excited to put Melissa's book together. You might recognize on of the photos in this album from the cover of the latest Newport Wedding Magazine! (A blog entry on that coming later this week) This is another 11x14 vertical book.

Ashley & Patrick's Wedding Album

It is album design time here at the studio, so if you haven't submitted your album order yet, send away! I can't wait to see this album in person. Ashley chose a full photo cover, so the first 3 images are her possible choices for her cover.

Sara + Kyle are married! January 24th, 2009

Sara is one of my good friends from elementary school, so I was thrilled to be apart of her day. Sara and Kyle were supposed to be married on April 4th of this year, but they moved up their date 4 months earlier due to Kyle's ship date. Sara ran with it and embraced her winter wedding with a fur wrap and an indoor rented space for formals. I loved Sara's red walls in her childhood bedroom...I was really excited about some fun bridals in that spot. My favorite moment was the birdseed send-off when leaving the church.

Thanks for having me!!! Congratulations. Here is to a long happy life together!

Carrie & Mark's Album

Wow!! I'm BACK from my "blogging vacation". Back-blogging all my wedding and portraits from September-December would be quite the chore, so I'm just going to blog going forward and previous shoots orders & albums as they come in. It's not that I didn't love my fall & winter clients--please do not be offended! Blogging really takes a lot of time away from production time and I really needed to prioritize to work on actual client work.

I have some new things coming soon, like a *NEW* blog, website updates and some really great systems for the studio; including an online shopping cart and online studio management.

Last week, I worked on Carrie & Mark's wedding album. These are the double page spreads of their 11x14 vertical album.

And here is a favorite photo from Carrie's wedding. Somehow I missed this image when I first blogged the wedding back in July, but Carrie chose it for her book. I made it a double page spread in her book...I just love the emotion and the moment. I was able to get this amazing angle at St. Dominic's church because the Father is so welcoming to photographers & videographers.

Jen & Joe's Wedding Book

First off, I've totally neglected the blog for a full month! I feel so bad for my October brides. No previews yet from me!!

I recently wrapped up work on Jen and Joe's wedding book. They were married in May at the Hotel Viking. Here is their preview. This will be a 12x12 book. Jen picked out a beautiful two-toned leather cover--white leather with an accent strip of cocoa brown. I'll grab a snap of the cover when it comes in.

Gretchen + Mark are married! Hotel Viking Wedding (Preview)

Gretchen and Mark were married on a rainy Saturday in September. We didn't let that get in our way when it came to pictures. Towards the end of the night, some of the guests started reciting lines from "Anchorman". So I pulled Gretchen and Mark aside for a few more couple portraits and started rattling off as many lines from the movie as I could think of. "I will take your mom out for a nice seafood dinner and NEVER CALL HER AGAIN! Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!" I didn't even know I had it in me, haha. Definitely a really funny moment!!

THANK YOU for having me!!!!

Florals: Stoneblossom!!!!

Mariana + Gorty are married! (Night of Wedding Preview)

I just got back from Mariana & Gorty's beach wedding. Mariana was an absolutely beautiful bride. We got in lots of portraits of her before the ceremony. Bridal portraits are my favorite parts of the day.

Gooseberry was the perfect setting for their wedding. Plus, Goose has a special place in my heart, so I love love love shooting there. I have my little spots there I love using and I've been looking forward to photographing Mariana and Gorty in them all summer!

Mariana got ready at Pearls of Newport, a boutique hotel on Pelham Street in downtown Newport. They have lovely gardens and great rooms with lots of character. Pearls is a great place for bridal prep photos. There's lots to work with there. Plus, they really cater to brides and weddings!

Malloi, Mariana's band, rocked the place all night! They even gave in to the "ONE MORE SONG" chants at the end of the night and played the ladies a little "It's Raining Men". Very fun!

I loved the blue and teal themed candy bar with blue rock candy and salt water taffy! Edible favors are very much a DO this year!

THANK YOU for having me!! It was an honor to be apart of your day and I LOVED my 2.5 minute commute home. =) =)

Ellen + Ryan are married! (Preview)

Ellen & Ryan were married yesterday at Kay Chapel and had their reception at the Tennis Hall of Fame. Ryan and the groomsmen wore unique coral boutenierres from their trip to Antigua (I think that's what I remember Ryan telling me). Ellen had initial wreathes hanging on the doors of Kay Chapel. During the cocktail hour, the guests played rounds of Croquet, with tips and tricks given by a coach. So fun! Ellen's gorgeous veil came from Edna Mae's on Spring Street in Newport. I love veils and I loved Ellen's!

THANK YOU for having me!!

Veil: Edna Mae's Millinery: 140 Spring Street, Newport 401.847.8665

I took the next two photographs in a parking lot. Photogenic walls and spots can be found anywhere...you just have to look:

I love this wall. I've been waiting to use it all season!

These are the hot shoes Ellen's mom wore!

Love love love Ellen's laugh!

I took a few portraits of Ryan before the ceremony. He's a natural...

Marissa + Brian are married! (Preview)

I finally found a bride shorter then me! (And my height with heels) Marissa is so petite, she's like a bride doll.

Marissa and Brian were married at Blessed Sacrament Church and had their reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We did have an uninvited guest; her name was Hurricane Hanna. (That witch...haha) Marissa didn't let it dampen her spirits (pun intended). We worked it out and we got some great images.

Blessed Sacrament is beautiful!! The guests were welcomed into the church with music from a bagpiper. Marissa is a designer and she designed the ceremony programs, save-the-date cards, invitations and menu cards herself. Her monogram for the wedding was great too! Lots of black brocade everywhere, which I love. She made the Grand Ballroom complete with black chiavari chairs. Little details like that really make the wedding.

I loved Marissa's dress. It was so her...strapless sweetheart neckline with a polka dot overlay. And she changed into these great tango ballroom shoes for the reception to dance the night away in.

Here's a preview of their photos:

Bride's Dress & Maid's Dresses: Melissa Sweet

This is my favorite photojournalistic moment of the year:

I love this portrait of Marissa...those curtains are so cute. Marissa is a designer, so I wanted to incorporate design-y elements.

Kara + Niall are married! Atlantic Beach Club Wedding (Preview)

Kara and Niall were married at St. Lucy's Church and had their reception at the Atlantic Beach Club. The pre-ceremony was so fun and relaxed hanging out with the girls. Kara was not nervous at all! Kara & Sara are quite the pair! (Try not get all tongue tied with those two names, huh?)

Kara and Niall entertained my wild requests, like, "Oh look at those curves in the sand from the polluted water! Those look cool...go stand near them!" (You'll see the photo in a second and it will make sense) Thanks for being fun and up for anything!

For favors, guests received a custom printed beer koozies and starfish or heart shaped wine corks. The corks also doubled as place cards. Very cute idea you know is going to get used! And lastly, we played with sparklers on the beach before heading home. What a great wedding!!

At the reception, they had this wicked cool band from Boston, called The Chicken Slacks. You can listen to their music on the website I listed below. I liked Chicken Slacks because we actually conversed during dinner!! Typically, the vendors sit together during dinner and you wouldn't believe how many bands don't say a word to the photo/video people. But me and the guys from the Slacks had a lovely conversation. Diamond D is one cool guy and knows how to keep your guests up and dancing. And you know what was the best part? They didn't play "Brickhouse", "Don't Stop Believin", "Livin on a Prayer" or the "ChaCha Slide". It was a nice change. Check them out if you're looking for something different.

Hair: Ki-Ra Salon
Band: Chicken Slacks
Trolley: Viking Tours

I'm obsessed with shoe pictures.

St. Lucy's is so cool...the architecture allows for some really cool angles.

The getway Vette! Way faster then a limo! I was behind Niall when pulled out of the church parking lot...wow, that engine just sings.

I love this picture!!!! It's so simple, but I love love love it.

This is the shot I was talking about earlier...

Rave

Here's a snippet of a lovely email I received this morning from Kara's mom. I photographed Kara's wedding on Friday night at the Atlantic Beach Club:

"Faith - Paul and I just wanted to say thank you for all your wonderful attention to Kara and Niall's wedding on Friday. Your photos are truly a work of art and your talent at capturing the moment is absolutely amazing. Watching you work it is so obvious that you love what you do for a living and that in itself is a pleasure to see. You have such a knack for putting people at ease and making everyone so comfortable. -Jackie"

Oana + Michael are married! (Preview)

Oana + Mike were married over Labor day weekend and held their reception at the Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Massachusetts. (Very exclusive club....we saw a certain Red Sox player there with his wife and kids! He waved and congratulated Oana & Mike as we sped past in golf carts!) Oana wore a beautiful mermaid style gown and carried a cascade of orchids. They had a beautiful ceremony and a gorgeous blue cake. Their reception, complete with a Lebanese band, was crazy and fun! Everyone had an absolute blast.

Thanks for having me! It was an honor to spend your day with you!

Oana hung her dress in this little hall window...I loved the backlight and the highlights on the wall

PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE that this Island Girl left Newport.....haha!!

LOVE this colored cake!!!

Cynthia + John are married! (Preview)

Now this is a wedding I've been looking forward to. Cynthia and I were instantly bonded when she came to visit me. We talked about all her details like the groomsmen's kilts, her 2 dress sashes and her Castle Hill lighthouse-replica cupcake tower. (It was like 4 feet high off the cake table!!) I knew it was going to be a wedding full of fun and friends! There was some fun surprises I didn't know about like the signature cocktail named after their dog and glowy blinking ice cubes in the water glasses.

Cynthia and John's family and friends are eagerly and patiently waiting on me to post up some pictures. (I started getting emails from their guests, oh about 3 hours after their reception ended, haha!!!!)

THANK YOU for having me!!!!

Florals: Clement's Market, Portsmouth
Band: GQ and The Lady They rocked! I loved them.

Erin + Ryan are married! (Preview)

What happens when you add 1 gorgeous bride in a cathedral length veil + 1 stunning groom + 12 wicked fun bridemaids & groomsmen + 150 loving friends and family members and mix in 72 degree sunny weather? You get amazing wedding photography!! I could have kept Erin & Ryan out shooting all day long....I just see shot after shot after shot. The real beauty was the passion Erin & Ryan share. Anyone at their wedding couldn't help but feel the love and celebration of their marriage. It was such a wonderful energy and dynamic!

Erin & Ryan, I wish you a long, happy marriage! Thank you for having me! And a special thanks to Erin's mom and dad for hiring me. You all were so wonderful...I had so much fun.

DJ: Rhythm Productions John & Job are amazing at what they do. If you're looking for a great DJ, give John a call. I love working with them, so you'll make me happy, too!

Florals: Golden Gate Studios Jay and Melissa do great work. I've worked with them on many occasions and not only do they create lovely arrangements, they are nice people to have at your day.

My favorite photograph of the year:

Sarah + Martin are married! (Preview)

Sarah & Martin had a country inspired wedding at Bittersweet Farm in Westport, Massachusetts. Sarah's bridesmaids wore lovely green tealength dresses, which is a really popular trend this year! I'm seeing lots of green weddings! It's a great color and it looks great on everyone. I loved this red barn Bittersweet Farm has on the property. So cute and rustic! Here's a preview of Sarah and Martin's pictures. Thanks for having me!!!

Kaelin + Michael - 8•8•08 - Belle Mer Island House

Kaelin and Michael had a intimate destination wedding here in Newport on 8•8•08 at Belle Mer's Island House. What a gorgeous day they got! Blue skies, big puffy white clouds, and a nice light breeze off the water in the afternoon. Belle Mer serves these awesome cold smoked salmon cuts with a cream sauce--I must have eaten half a plate at Kaelin's wedding. All those omega 3's and protein are good for you. So my Belle Mer ladies for next year, make me happy and get the smoked salmon plate at your weddings!

Kaelin & Michael, thanks for having me!

PS- I forgot to mention this when I blogged early this morning...Kaelin and Michael had awesome weather all day, even though the weather called for thunderstorms fin the morning. The storms held until the evening and the skies didn't open up until 6PM, 2 hours after their wedding was wrapped and their after-party had started! That's because I bring the sun to 95% of the weddings I'm shooting. And if it does rain, it's a little passing shower and never a washout. One more reason why you should get me for your photography--because I'm the 'Sun Goddess'....geez I hope I didn't jinx myself for the rest of the season!

Band: Nancy Paolino & The Black Tie Band

Lauren + James are married! (Preview)

Lauren and I were bonded the minute we started emailing. Lauren hadn't locked in a wedding date just yet and told me she wanted a vineyard wedding. I suggested Sakonnet Vineyards and she and James fell in love with it on their site visit.

I loved photographing Lauren & James because their friends and family were so warm and hospitable. They have the most loving friends...their friends were so involved in the wedding. It was very personal and intimate--even with 200 guests!

Lauren & James--thanks so much for having me!! It was a pleasure and an honor!

Check out James' crazy Photoshop skills!!! Lauren & James are huge movie buffs, so on every table was one of their favorites with their own faces 'shopped in. Seriously, I don't think I could have done the stuff James did. When I post their slideshow, I'll include more movie posters. SUCH A CUTE IDEA! I love when people incorporate personalized things about the couple. It makes it unique.

DeAnna + Steve's Wedding at Castle Hill - Slideshow

Hello everyone! I've been a really bad blogger and I haven't posted anything since August 6th. Ahhh, it's really crazy and hectic here so the blog has been on the backburner as I've been working on client work.

DeAnna and Steve had a lovely intimate wedding at Castle Hill in July. Sayles Livingston did all the gorgeous florals. We went out to the lighthouse right at sunset for some pretty portraits with great light.

DeAnna & Steve, thanks so much for having me! I loved meeting your family and photographing your day!

Melissa + Andrew - Regatta Place - Slideshow

Melissa and Andrew had a gorgeous ceremony right on the pier at Regatta Place. Melissa and Andrew saw each other before the ceremony and did the bulk of their portraits before they went to Regatta Place. Everyone should consider this, especially if cocktail hour is something you want to be apart of. Regatta Place is my new favorite venue. Something about being surrounded by the ocean inspires me. When you view the slideshow, be sure to watch out for Melissa and her dad's dancing at the end of the night to that MC Hammer "Can't Touch This" song. It's hysterical and not to be missed!!

Carrie & Mark's Wedding, July 5th-Pawtucket Country Club-Slideshow

I just loved photographing Carrie & Mark. I knew her wedding was going to be so special and have so many pretty details. Take a close look at the ceremony photos--Father Joe at St. Dominic's Church in Swansea allows photographers and videographers to stand up front. The vantage point is very interesting. In the first kiss photo, you can see all the guests looking on. A very special moment with a really great perspective. The show is set to Carrie & Mark's first dance song. Here's your show!!

Melissa + Andrew are married!! (Night of Wedding Preview)

I just got back from Melissa and Andrew's seaside wedding at Regatta Place. What a gorgeous day and a beautiful evening. Regatta Place is amazing! There's no other venue like it. You are literally on a dock surrounded by giant yachts, the Newport harbor and the sound of the ocean lapping against the piers. The smell of the night air and the ocean is intoxicating. That's why I just love it here in Newport.

The crew at Regatta Place offer the most outstanding service! They truly take care of everyone and are so nice.

Melissa & Andrew were such a joy to photograph. Their family and friends were so welcoming. I think Melissa's mom and dad are my biggest fans! They made me feel right at home!

Thank you so much for having me!! Enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii!!!

Carrie & Mark's Wedding, July 5th-Pawtucket Country Club-Preview

Carrie and Mark were married yesterday at St. Dominic's Church. If anyone is looking for a church in the Southeastern Massachusetts area, please consider St. Dominic's. Father Joe is awesome! He has the photographer and videographer stand on the step next to him because he wants us to get a great vantage point. You'll see what I mean when I post Carrie's slideshow in a few days. He even makes sure we get all the important parts of the ceremony. I have never encountered such an accommodating priest in a church in all my years as a wedding photographer, save for outdoor ceremonies.

So I think I found someone who loves U2 as much as I do. Carrie is a huge U2 fan and says she's seen them in concert over 20 times!

Mark is from England, and his friends and family were sooo funny!! All this great British humor and lively dancing. I cracked up when one of the groomsmen asked me where the "loo" was located in the church. =)

I was so looking forward to Carrie and Mark's wedding because I knew Carrie had so many pretty details throughout the day, and I couldn't wait to see them all. Carrie and Mark ran out of the reception through a sparkler tunnel, which was another thing I was really looking forward to seeing. Super cute idea!

Well, I could go on and out about yesterday, but I really want to get to the pictures, so here they are!!

Carrie & Mark, THANK YOU for having me! Hawaii is going to rock!

Ashley & Pat's Wedding, 4th of July-Providence Biltmore-Preview

Ashley and Pat had a fun 4th of July themed wedding at the Providence Biltmore. They had a gorgeous, moving ceremony at St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral. I wish I had audio of the ceremony; it was just so grand and amazing. There's was a live trumpet player in the front of the cathedral, and it just so moving. Everyone was in tears, it was so gorgeous.

I had so much fun with Ashley; she's so outgoing and hysterical. She had me laughing the whole day. I know it's supposed to be the other way around--I'm supposed to be making people laugh, but Ashley just has such a big personality, I couldn't help it.

There were actors at the cocktail hour playing Paul Revere and other revolutionary war figures. Such a cute touch! There's a photo below of them with Ashley's mom, Lisa. Check that out for sure!

Ashley and Pat--THANK YOU so much for having me!! I loved being a part of your day!

Florals: Golden Gate Studios, 401.421.0099
Videography: Bellevue Productions

I shot this through the window in the room where cocktail hour was overlooking the ballroom. The Biltmore is interesting the way it's laid out.

Briana + James's Wedding- Channing Memorial Church & The Eisenhower House, Newport

Briana and James were married last Saturday at Channing Memorial Church and had their reception at the Eisenhower House in Newport. If you scroll down to the my previous entry, you can get all the vendor details. Briana had beautiful tables with tall, skinny vases with daises in the water and arrangements on top. The tables also had these beautiful wooden fans leaning against the base. I loved Briana's colors: lime green and a touch of navy. When I get a chance, I will have to post Briana & James invitations. They were amazing!! I'll dedicated a whole blog entry to these gorgeous invites. You can see them in the slideshow below as well.

Briana & James, thank you so much for having me! I loved photographing your day and meeting your family! Here is your show:

Briana + James are married! (Night of Wedding Preview)

I just returned from Briana & James' wedding at Channing Memorial Church and the Eisenhower House! Briana took all my recommendations for hair and makeup. Planning a wedding from California is quite the project! True New England weather today...we went from 85 with not a cloud in the sky all day, and then around 5PM, this crazy thick fog rolled in! It's ok though because Briana loves stormy weather, soft light and moody black and white pictures!!

Hotel: Pearls Boutique Hotel
-Pearls specializes in suites for brides. The rooms are amazing with a real historic Newport feel, great wallpaper everywhere, cute gardens, gorgeous furniture. It's really the perfect setting for bridal prep photos!! So ladies, if you are still searching for a hotel, this is your spot!)

Hair: Fine Line Salon. 557 Thames Street, 401.848.0033
-Emily at Fine Line did Briana's hair. I love Emily, because when I go to her for cut, she gets me in and out in like 25 minutes.

Makeup: Cosmetic Cosmos
-Best. Makeup. Ever! They do such an awesome job! They have their own parking lot behind the store, too, so you don't have to worry about parking on Thames Street.

Florals: Broadway Florist
-Briana and her girls had these great roses, orchids and irises. Gorgeous.

Church: Channing Memorial Unitarian Church
-Channing is right off Bellevue Avenue and is a beautiful, historic church.

Disc Jockey: Atlantic DJ
-DJ Murph and his guys are awesome. Classy DJ service and they keep your guests dancing, but in a laid back way.

Caterer: Fine Catering By Russell Morin
-What can I say about Morins? Ashley is awesome! She is on top of everything and is so sweet! I always look forward to dinner when I know it's Morins.

Reception: The Eisenhower House
-The perfect setting for an outdoor Newport wedding.

(I don't know how I remember all the vendor info! It must have been all those games of Memory as a kid)

THANK YOU for having me!!!!!

Kate + Ray had a beautiful, intimate wedding on June 14th. They were married at St. Mary's Church in Pawtucket (GORGEOUS!) and had a lovely reception at the University Club in Providence. I posted their story in their preview blog right below this one. You should scroll down and read it if you haven't already! It's super cute!

Kate + Ray are married! (Day After Wedding Preview)

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of photographing Kate + Ray's wedding at St. Mary's Church in Pawtucket, and their reception at the University Club in Providence. They had an intimate affair in a very artsy part of Providence. Kate and Ray actually met at their friend's wedding last year...Beth + David who I photographed on August 4th! Such a cute story...I love couples with cute stories! Their slideshow will be up shortly!

Look at these cool blue tiles I found. I thought they really complimented Ray's tie.

Kate's dad before the ceremony.

Kate had just arrived to St. Mary's Church

What a gorgeous church, huh? I love churches like this!

Right after the kiss, Ray gave a wave out to the guests. He said later he just felt like they had their backs to everyone the whole time and he wanted to say "hi"

Recessional photos up the aisle are one of my favorite parts of the day.

How could I resist putting a beautiful bride in a beautiful doorway?

Pretty portrait...

I love Ray's khaki suit.

Relaxing in Prospect Park.

At the University Club.

Here's Kate and Ray with Beth and David. Remember how I mentioned at the beginning of the entry how they met at a wedding? It was their wedding Kate + Ray met.

And while everyone was eating dinner, I had some fun with their rings. I just happened to find a newspaper laying around the university club.

Kate and Ray--THANK YOU so much for having me! It was a pleasure to photograph your wedding day. I wish you all the best in your life together.
